I was a little put out to notice that it requires two USB ports, but that's a pretty minor inconvenience, since my Mac Pro has two on the front panel. So I decided I'd spend a small amount on what is basically a laptop DVD drive in a case and see if it would work to read those bad discs. I have noticed that my PC laptops seem to do better at reading damaged or poorly manufactured discs. I replaced it once years ago, but don't really want to replace it again because I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to keep the computer.
